Going into the season, the Red Raiders had high expectations with star guard, Jarrett Culver, returning. Last year, they were able to reach their first ever Elite Eight. This year, they were able to win their first ever Big 12 regular season title. They were able to succeed due to the Big 12 Player of the Year, Jarrett Culver. He averaged the teams most points per game, rebounds per game, and assists per game. Most people doubted them going into the tourney due to their early exit in the Big 12 Quarterfinal against the terrible, 15-21, West Virginia Mountaineers. But, during the big tourney, their defense has showed to be the best defense in the country. They held the Buffalo Bulls, who averaged 84.9 points per game throughout the season, to only 58 points and won by 20. Then they held the Michigan Wolverines to their season low, 44 points due to their great defense in the Sweet Sixteen. Once they reached the Elite Eight, they were faced with the highest scoring team, the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Red Raiders forced 16 turnovers and held them to 69 points. The team averaged 10.4 turnovers and 88.8 points. Now they will face an evenly matched Michigan State team.
Later, I will post an article on how they can beat Michigan State and move onto the championship game.
